PUBLIC SPACES NETWORK, UDINE

Project: 2019-2020

Redevelopment of squares in the historic center, opening of urban passages between them, renovation of a
historic building for public offices

Surfaces: 6970 sq m open spaces, 3583 sq m, historic block for public offices

The project aims to improve the usability of a portion of the historic center of Udine, through the renovation of a series of existing squares and open spaces to implement public and pedestrian use in an integrated way. It proposes the reuse of a historic block in the center of Udine to make it accessible to public use with services for citizens. It also integrates its ground floor into a system of pedestrian paths that connect the redeveloped outdoor spaces. With this objective, it creates a network of crossings and resting places that unite currently separate areas, making the parterre of the city permeable. The project thus promotes an urban redevelopment process that enhances a part of the city that is currently underused.
