Demolition and reconstruction of a building housing municipal offices Project and construction: 2016-2018 Dimensional data: 825 Sq.Mt. Offices, 1,100 Sq.Mt. Outdoor landscaped area The commission involved the renovation, carried out through demolition and reconstruction, of a former school located in a courtyard behind the central Piazza Italia and the town hall of Maniago. The reconstruction of a smaller volume than the previous one made it possible to configure a sequence of public spaces with a courtyard and a green area. The new building sought a unification of the architectural envelope and a reference in the surrounding context to be interpreted with contemporary forms. It was found in the nearby building of the former Austrian prisons with its windows characterized by large white stone frames irregularly placed on the plastered facade. The new building took on this nature of "plastered wall with multiple openings" by adopting different types of windows with large white frames. |
